Filling Hole in bottom of gunite pool.

When our gunite pool was drained for painting they drilled a 2" hole in the bottom to relieve water pressure.
The pool has been painted & we want to patch the hole before we refill it with water.
Can pool putty be used to block that hole or is there a better product?

Any other tips for work that should be done before filling the pool are appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to TFP.

I hope you know that modern pool paints only last a season or two. They quickly start chalking and clouding the water.

I think you need to use hydraulic cement to fill the relief hole.
