I got my fiberglass pool (16500 gallons) installed in 2017. It is salt water and I have a Pentair IC15 that the builder spec'd and assured me would be fine even though I expressed a concern that it was undersized. I have a cartridge filter, variable speed pump and heater.
I have have almost no trouble over the first three years of running the pool, other than the large volumes of chemicals that I had to add to get a decent base level of calcium, alkalinity and stabalizer into my filled from the garden hose pool.
I have survived with the occasional pool store water test, and test strips up until this point. I do have proper test strips for salt level. I have noticed different pool stores have wildly different results for the same water.
I looked into getting a proper test kit, and am waiting to hear back from the Canadian distributor.
Last year I had a problem with algae near the end of a really hot season, and I was able to manage with some granular shock and algecide.
This year I'm already starting to run into trouble and thats when I found this site. Hoping to get my pool back under control so I can get back to enjoying it with my kids and not being at my wits end trying to figure it out.
