FC amount for inflatable water slide

I have one of the water slide inflatables with the big blower which is always difficult to get completely dry before storing. We have been using it 5 days in a row and have left it in the yard so dew/rain have kept it pretty wet even when not in use. I am going to use my pump sprayer to proactively prevent it from stinking or any mildew from forming before I store it for a few weeks. I was planning on filling up my 2 gallon sprayer with pool water (current FC is approx 8 and CYA 30) and then add one ounce of 10% bleach. Do you think this will be an appropriate formula or do you think this would be too harsh? The material is nylon and vinyl. Pool Math shows my FC will be almost 400 but that seems a bit extreme.

Usually the bleach bottle shows the proper dilution to use as a household sanitizer. If you are just spraying it down to store it for a few weeks I don't think I'd be too concerned about the chlorine you plan on using. Sounds about right to me!

I was super ana....... Um..... concerned with my slide and it lasted 5 years with no mold or discoloring. I inflated it and aired it for about 8 hours each time when we were done with it. If it was a late night I’d do it the next day. I used ladders and chairs to get it off the ground so the air could get under it and the 45 gallons of water still inside it could drip out. It wasn’t quick or easy but I had several friends that needed a new one every year due to the sludge growing inside it.

I had the older version of this one. Because the pool was filled for hours at a time the slide would fill with water too.

Good point about using chairs to get it off the ground. I inflated it and propped it up on my pool fence to dry out the bottom which worked but the end that was on the ground had probably 20 gallons in it like a big water bag. I turned it off and was able to leave it hanging on the fence overnight so I will check to see how much has leaked out.

I used my little giant ladder because the thing is beefy (collapsed as the 4 ft A-frame) under the heavy part and whatever chairs I could find nearby in the yard. I also moved the supports around about halfway so those spots could dry too.

I see them in people’s yards for a month at a time and I cringe. Then I happen to go by while they are using it and they have several colors that they weren’t supposed to. Ick. What I did was not fun and it wasn’t easy but I threw it out in perfect condition when we got the pool 5 years later.

Ahhh, that picture brings back many good memories....
We had that exact slide years ago when my son was about 6 or 7 (now 16). It was a pain to keep clean, and usually did a number on the grass, but who cares, he loved it. Many happy memories of the kids playing while the adults sat in folding chairs enjoying some snacks, and beverages. I wouldnt trade our present pool for anything in the world, but I have to admit, sometimes i miss those simple old days.

I still have the blower, and use it now and then to help dry floors, pool cover, etc.

Ahhh, that picture brings back many good memories...

^^^^^^Every word of what you said...... same. Lol. The older ones still had the squirt cannons. Oh boy was it ever a pain but we would have friends over or make it a weekend party. I even set up flood lights on sawhorses (uphill) for night time so that they could use it while the adults had their own get together at the fire pit nearby. A lot of the same people come for the newer attraction, And I don’t have to spend half a day drying them off !!

and of course I couldn’t throw the blower out either........ it might be needed for a flood one day !!!

Without a heater for our pool and these random cold snaps we have been getting, it has been hard to get the temp up high enough for a comfortable swim. For the inflatable slide, the water from the spigot was much colder so I hooked up a garden hose to the hot water connection for my washing machine. The water trickling out of the sprayer at the top of the slide was a bit hot to the touch but the pool of water at the bottom of the slide felt like a hot tub.

When you are stuck in the house for 8 weeks with two young boys, you have to get creative with ways to entertain them. I am definitely going to do the hot tub water slide again post quarantine for warm days when the pool is too cold.

I made a ‘Y’ so I could add cold to it and have medium warm at the end. It took some doing because the normal hose splitter is the other direction so I had to make some adapter pieces. I made 2 short sections of female to female into the splitter and a 3rd short male to male piece that connects the splitter and the regular hose.

We have one at school. After we use it turn off the water to it and open up the tubes you tie off to keep the air in and the tube the blower connects to. I then work on moving the massive amount of water collected inside the pool to those tubes. It is not fun or easy but it is worth it long term.

-turn off water
-open air tubes
-move slide to move the water towards the tubes
-once most of the water is out close up the air tubes and reconnect the blower and let it blow. I would turn the slide so all different areas could dry out.

The current slide is 4 yrs old and still going strong. Of course will not be used this year though
