Famous People

Not building or servicing a pool, but in a pool.

My sister in law teaches swimming over the summer (she is a teacher, summers off). She got a call from a producer of a pretty popular TV show. Apparently in one of the scenes, one of the actors needed to swim the backstroke, but had no idea how to do it. My sister in law was hired to give her private lessons on how to swim the backstroke so she could do the scene. (With an NDA and all that jazz)

I've met famous and semi-famous people back when I was a record store manager in the 80s. Met Milli Vanilli before the world found out they didn't sing on their records. I worked an instore appearance with New Kids on the Block when they were big. They were kind of jerks. We had these large, 12' tall plate glass windows in the front of the store and about a thousand screaming teenage girls lined up around the block to see them. These girls were slamming their hands on the windows to get the band's attention and these guys were egging them on from the other side of the window across the store. We had to tell the band to stop because these girls would have been hurt pretty bad if the windows broke. These guys also didn't realize that a thousand screaming teen age girls running at them full speed would probably trample them before they could get away! Those windows and about 4 minimum wage clerks was all that prevented them from being adored to death!

If we are going with non-pool related, my favorite meeting (out of quite a few) was Danny DiVito and Rhea Pearlman. Years ago a number of had 2 second row tickets to Blue Man Group at the Astor Place Theater in The Village. I was in my seat, when in walks Danny and Rhea and they sit directly behind me. I am 6' 4", I felt so bad blocking their view. We ending up talking and I offered to switch seats, but they declined. I do have a Playbill around here somewhere for the Blue Man Group that is signed by Danny DiVito and Rhea Peralman.

I went to school with Bob from Sesame Street's daughter - went to a couple parties at his house.

Zeke Mowatt (played Tight End for the Giants and Patriots) cleaned the carpets in my office

I run into famous or semi-famous people in strange places.
