Factory Reset Intellitouch without Control

I searched but couldn’t find an answer to this so I’m asking.

I have an intellitouch i7+3 that is controlled with Screenlogic2. Without writing a book about how I got here I’m at the place where I need to confirm if this board is bad.

So I want to do a factory reset and reprogram to see if my current problems go away. I’ve spoken to 2 field reps and 1 tech support. I’m telling you that to avoid the “why what’s going on” novel length answer. I didn’t get here on my own so just trust this is what needs to happen.

The tech support guy told me I could do it with screenlogic but it would be easier with a laptop. Unfortunately the only computer I have isn’t running an OS from the stone age so I can’t install the SL software. So I only have SL Access and I know there’s no real advanced functionality with the Config app like there is with a control.

So 2 big questions. 1. Is there a sequence of button pushes that will wipe that board to factory settings? I don’t have any thing else to connect to use the erase eeprom function.

Next big one. If I can successfully wipe that board can I then pair a screenlogic2 to it to reprogram it. I’ve setup a dozen screenlogics but never to a fresh board. So I don’t know what I don’t know about this process.

Thanks in advance for any insights you may have.

1111,

Does your IntelliTouch also have a remote?

If not, I can't see how ScreenLogic is going to be able to clear the memory RAM???

If you have a remote, then it would be Menu, Settings, Erase EEPROM, yes..

While you can use ScreenLogic to go in and delete all of the current settings, that is not the same as erasing the EEPROM.. You can easily get things in memory that can't be seen by ScreenLogic.

Tell us what problems you are having with your current set up, and we can give you an idea if it sounds like a bad board issue or not.

Thanks,

Jim R.

No remote which is why I’m asking for an alternate way to reset.

There’s nothing I can say that will verify a bad board. It looks bad but I’d like to know for sure before I tell someone they need to dig deep into their wallet. Only wiping, reprogramming, and seeing how it functions will confirm good or bad.

That’s why I’m trying to do it.

I've had a weird issue where boards wouldn't recognize a new VSF pump until I cleared them and reprogrammed. never figured out why.

but, to answer your question... and this is from the pentair intellitouch manual, section "Erasing the System Memory":
  1. On the main Outdoor Control Panel (located in the main Load Center or Power Center), press theReset button. The three (3) System Control lights will be lit
  2. Press the number 5 button. The System Control lights will flash OFF then back ON.
  3. While the System Control LED lights are ON, press the number 1 button.
  4. The System Control LED lights will begin flashing on and off (and you'll see some aux lights alternately illuminate)
