Hi:

My Century 2 HP pool pump motor has been running fine for 2 years. The wiring from the breaker box is 21 years old, I want to cut a few inches of wire from the terminal end of each wire which will leave me short to reach the motor. What is a suggested method to splice/extend each of the two wires? I have Supco Quick Disconnect, High Temperature, 16-14 Gauge, 1/4" Female Tabs and a Century USQ1202 2 HP, 3450 RPM, 48Y Frame, Capacitor Start/Capacitor Run, ODP Enclosure, Square Flange Pool Motor.

Thank you.

Where will the splices be located?

Splices are not allowed in conduit. Splices have to be accessible. You can use a junction box to contain the splices and extend the wires. If the junction box is outdoors it must have weatherproof seals.

There are many ways to connect wires in a junction box from wire nuts to Wago connectors.
