Not one with wifi. Still have the CC plus though.if you were buying a new robot today which one would you buy?
daily scheduling, thats assuming you leave it in the water all the time? Isnt that bad for the cable?Super,
I have been a Dolphin user for many years and still have a couple at rent house pools. But, I have switched over to the EVO and like it better.
That said, they both have advantages and disadvantages.. Based on how you plan to use it.
The EVO won't get stuck on your main drain and has an app for daily scheduling.
The Dolphin, has the ability to be controlled by a smart switch or an automation system, while the EVO does not.
There are a number of small differences, but in the big picture it comes down to price and lifespan..
The new Dolphins seem to last about 4 years.. Some die earlier, and some later.. The EVO's lifespan is unknow at this point, but I personally believe it can't be worse than the Dolphins. Time will tell..
If you have not talked to Margaret at Marina Pool and Spa, then you should.

My cable on my 5 year old nautilus cc plus just failed. This aftermarket cable got it working again. I think the genuine dolphin cables are around $300.00. I bring this up because you obviously just jinxed yourself…Super,
The EVO has a 'real' cable..
As they say on TV.. it has a manly cable...
My EVO only goes in the water once or twice a week, so I do not need, or use, the scheduling anyway.. If you are not going to use the schedule, then you should get the 604, which is cheaper and does not have the app..
I have the 614i, because that is all they had in stock at the time, and I knew I was going to do a review, so it made sense for me to get the 614i.
My rent house Dolphins all stay in the pool 24/7, and it does effect the cable somewhat, but I have never had one fail due to any type of cable issue.
Thanks,
Jim R.
O,think the genuine dolphin cables are around $300.00.
O,
A 2-wire (non-WiFi) Maytronics cable from Marina is $150 bucks.. Not sure why you think it is $300???
But... The EVO cable from Marina is $300 bucks, which is outrageous...![]()
@samdsox.. I think I saw a thread by you about your cable issue... I saw what you dog did, but it does not look like it should effect the robots operation..
Thanks,
Jim R.
You’re right they are $180-$200.00 on Amazon. They have some longer ones for more.O,

@Jimrahbe I'm not necessarily refuting that operationally (though It was a wild animal as I don't have a dog), but I do think that the fact no one can get parts is still relevant to the purchase decision. What happens if a motor goes or the cord is severed and it does functionally affect the bot?@samdsox.. I think I saw a thread by you about your cable issue... Just to be clear, my cable was shot. Robot wouldn’t work at all. Plenty of cables, genuine and aftermarket to chose from with a dolphin cleaner. Sounds like if it’s an EVO bot, there is no practical repair option, you have to buy a new bot. I think I’ll stick with the brands that have good customer service or at least the ones that I can find plenty of replacement parts for.@Jimrahbe I'm not necessarily refuting that operationally (though It was a wild animal as I don't have a dog), but I do think that the fact no one can get parts is still relevant to the purchase decision. If you can get parts for it, that’s a huge plus. I imagine that with any of the brands their newest offerings are the ones that you would probably have the hardest time finding parts for. My strategy going foward is to simply repair my dolphin when the parts start to fail. The motors are the most expensive part (almost half the price of a new bot) followed by the power supply. If both those fail at once though, at that point it would make sense to me to just buy a new bot. I have never tried a suction side or a pressure side cleaner because my pool lacks the pluming for either.Orion and Sam,
First... I have no skin in the game here.. I think you raise a valid point and it makes sense to point out any pros and cons..
That said, Marina has a whole website full of EVO parts...

My Dolphin caddy works great for the Evo!Super,
I just store mine on a couple of 4 x 4s on my deck under an overhang..
I initially had a very old Dolphin, which had a caddie.. I threw it away... They would work for someone that has to move the robot a long ways to get to a garage, or storage shed, but if they just sit on the deck next to the pool, I don't see any advantage..
Because my robot is out of the way, I can lay the cable out on the deck in very large loops.. I don't like the idea of wrapping the cord up on the caddie in small loops.
To directly answer your question, I 'think that a Dolphin caddie could be made to work, but I don't know that to be a fact.
Thanks,
Jim R.
