Hi! So I am from Massachusetts. This June/July we had some super hot/humid days. However, we also had enough rain that I didn't pay attention to evaporation. About two weeks ago I started to notice (or so I thought) that my pool was slowly losing some water. I never really thought about the evaporation process before. So as an example, I topped the water off this Saturday. It' s now day 5 and I would say i've lost maybe an inch. I guess I would average out in about a weeks time, I am going to lose anywhere from 1 1/2 inches to 2 inches of water. I will say the temps have been wild here. My backyard reads anywhere between 85-100 degrees each day. Then at night, the temps are dropping to low 60's. My pool is also in direct sunlight from about 7am-7pm. It's not heated and there are no trees blocking anything. I also don't have a solar cover at night so it's exposed. I guess my question is, does this seem average? I'm just wondering if these temp changes are just speeding up the evaporation process. This entire season i haven't had to add any water to top the pool off until about 3 weeks ago. I now add about 1-2 inches a week. Before anyone suggests it, I am in the process of doing the bucket test now. I was just wondering if anyone else had any similar evaporation stories. I am not sure if I am just reading too much into this.
