After having intex pools for 5 years and managing them with ease thanks to this site, our last one rusted through and we are done with them. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 21’ x 54” Saltwater 8000 from The Pool Factory and after a full week of backbreaking ground prep, we are proud to say we have a beautifully round and level pool.
Our previous pool was 20’ x 48”. We built a deck to make it more adult-friendly, and we worked hard to make it work with the new pool. To that end, we’ve dug down a couple more inches so the pool rail can sit on the deck.
My question is this: The ground around the pool is lower than the rest of the yard - 10-12” on one side and 6-8” on the other. We had a big rain today and can now see just how swampy it is.
We do plan to backfill a bit once we’ve bonded the pool, Preferably with pavers we already had and sand or stone In between. In the meantime money is tight and energy is in very short supply. I am looking for any and all suggestions for a solid base on swampy ground with a minimum of $$ amd effort. Im leaning toward DG, with edged pavers on top. Previous pad was pavers in sand with a wood frame. Frame rotted but the pavers stayed pretty level under the weight of a 16” sand filter.
New ump is 1 1/2 hp 2 spd Hayward with 23” sand filter that holds 250 lbs of sand, so I don’t want to do this twice. I will also be putting up a sort of bulletin board style wall to mount the Aquatrol control panel and the electric outlet
We have lots of rain in the forecast so it’s not gonna dry out before the pool is full and really need to get this pump in place and running.
