Surface
Plaster
Chlorine
Salt Water Generator
SWG Type
Pentair Intellichlor IC-40
Our equipment was just installed (feels like we're making progress on the build - woohoo!) But the front of the heater is facing the house which will make reading the panel very difficult. I'm also not sure if it's configured correctly. Any advice? TIA!

Also those ball valves will not last long in the Texas sun. They will stick and eventually the handle will break. You should have then replaced with diverter valves now.

What is the purpose of the ball valves?

If you ever put trichlor tablets in that tablet feeder the acid in it will destroy the IntelliChlor plates.

The Installation manual for the IntelliChlor says it should be the last device before the pool/spa return. See page 5 in https://www.pentair.com/content/dam...al_Version_3_units_after_Nov_2011_English.pdf

That tablet feeder should be removed to not damage the SWG cell.
When we decided to go with SWG, I told the PB that I didn't want the inline chlorinator and he said, you'll still need it. So I then researched a bit more and was convinced that we would need it if the SWG ever failed. Also, we're getting Pebble Tec and it states that it cannot be salt water for two weeks so I didn't push back on the PB stating we would still need it. Does everyone forego the inline chlorinator if you have SWG???

Use that tab chlorinator for even 2 weeks and it will damage the cell plates.

The PebbleTec Startup guide https://mmgtx.com/docs/PTI-Start-Up-Maintenance-Procedures-Salt-SWCGS.pdf says:

Important: If utilizing a Salt Water Chlorination Generator System (SWCGS), no salt should be added for the first twenty eight (28) days.

People have both the tab chlorinator and SWG but not installed back to back without a check valve between the way yours is. Your installation is the worst way to do it and shows your pool builder does not understand SWGs. Which seems to be a Texas problem.

Tab chlorinators kill SWG cells and heater coils that they are near. You have both to be damaged.

SWGs are a consumable. If not abused, they will last many years. When it fails, replace it. Use liquid chlorine to get by.

Yes, almost everyone. If you ever wanted to use tabs temporarily, get a floater.

Do you have a UV or ozone system?

Fill out your signature when you have a minute.

I went to take a better look and how everything will be flowing. It looks like the inline is the last thing the water will flow through and then returns. So your recommendation is to make sure there is a way to bypass the inline, right?

I would suggest removing the inline tab feeder. You already have a SWG, which is excellent. Tabs are an unsustainable way of chlorinating and have potential to damage your other equipment. The tab feeder will also leak eventually.

Anytime you turn off the pump the tabs will continue to create acidic water which will backflow into the SWG cell.

You want to remove the tablet chlorinator and install a straight piece of pipe.
