Hi,

I've added liquid chlorine advertised as "ACTIVE CONSTITUENT: 130g/L available CHLORINE (Cl) present as SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE". How do I enter this into the Pool Math App (which requires a percent to be specified)? The page here: Chlorine Dosing Systems: Hypochlorite, Electrochlorination, Gas Chlorine writes:

  • Grams per litre of available chlorine = The weight of available chlorine in grams in 1L of sodium hypochlorite solution. This is determined by analysis.
  • Grams per litre of sodium hypochlorite = 1.05 x grams per litre available chlorine.
  • Trade percent available chlorine = grams per litre available chlorine/10
So do I enter 130/1.05/10 ~ 12.5% (assuming that the Pool Math app assumes trade percentages).

Use 13% for concentration. Add, test 30 minutes later. If it matches expectations, you are good to go. If it is lower than expected, change to 10%, dose and test.

Using the larger number will keep your addition safe.
