Effect of leaves on pool chemistry?

what effect do leaves have on the water?
For the occasional leaves that blow in and are removed fairly quickly, I suspect little to no effect. But for leaves that are allowed to sit and decompose, then of course they begin to use chlorine - not to mention the potential to stain the pool. Other than that, I'm not aware of anything else significant unless one of our chemist experts decides to chime in.

Get a leaf net that covers your pool during periods of leaf fall and big wind events. Much easier to remove the debris on the water surface above the net than sitting on the bottom. Leaves and other organic debris will put a load on your sanitizer (FC) and can stain your pool if left too long on the bottom. If your FC drops too low then the micro-organisms will start to reproduce resulting in an algae bloom. Stay ahead of this situation, especially now as the water warms otherwise it can go sideways fast.
