Hi. I have not "actually" opened yet. I am currently rebuilding my pump with a new Go-Kit. Also, have yet to complete a deep-clean of my sand filter, so I can't officially open until those two tasks are completed this weekend. In the meantime, my pool still has been covered with the winter cover. The water temp today is at 54 degrees. I pulled back the cover, and the water was crystal clear. When I tested this morning, my results were as follows:
FC: 1.5
CC: 0
CH: 125
TA: 80
Ph: 7.2
CYA: 30

I got out my utility pump, added a 6' section of 5/8" hose, and suspended it in the pool and turned it on. After an hour, I could see that the water was circulating quite well, not as fast as with the pool pump, but still noticeably moving. I added 160 oz. of liquid chlorine and let it stir for two hours. Here are my readings as of just a few minutes ago.
FC: 9.0
CC: .5
CH: 125
TA: 80
Ph: 7.3
CYA: 30

I would like to raise my Ph up to 7.6-7.7, and my CYA to 40-50. With the water this cold, and unsure about how long the sock method CYA might take with the relatively low volume utility pump, should I just leave everything until the weekend? Also, I'm unsure about how well the Borax will dissolve in water this cold and moving slowly.

What say you? Let it go as-is until Saturday, or add the CYA and Borax now, and leave the utility pump "stirring the pot?

Thanks!

No reason to raise pH. It is fine. Your pH will rise once you get the pool open.

CYA is fine until you get your pump running.
