Bought this house with a pool that already included Pentair Easytouch. Is it really $600 to purchase the ScreenLogic 2 equipment to use the Pentair app? Can I buy a RS485-Ethernet adapter and a wireless bridge instead? Or at least just the Pentair PC interface which is $300 paired with a wireless bridge?

Thanks! I saw that right after I posted. I ordered an RS485 / 802.11g device off Amazon and will report back whether I can get it to work or not.

Just a heads up - a generic RS485/Wifi bridge does NOT work with the Pentair mobile or PC apps. It DOES send and receive commands over the COM port but any translation of these commands would have to be done by you using michaelusner/pentair-pool-controler

I was able to purchase a second hand Pentair Screenlogic protocol adapter for $250. This adapter contains special logic that wraps and abstracts the Pentair RS485 COM APIs and exposes it to TCP. I used my own wireless bridge to put the protocol adapter on my network and (after a protocol firmware update) the iOS and PC apps work flawlessly. There is NO reason this should cost $700. The protocol adapter itself should be sold for $100 max and honestly their special wifi bridge adapter is a crock, doesn't work with mesh networks and doesn't work with 5ghz or whatever people complain about. A modern wireless bridge works FINE on mesh networks and - anyway. They can charge the $700 because people will pay it I guess.
