Hi,

Just got an offer in my screen logic app. $500 off for an upgrade to intellicenter.

Is this worth it? I would not mind a bit more modern app than screen logic, the wife refuses to use it. And my schedules occasionally doesn't fire right. But for the most part my system works well.

Worth upgrading? I have old incandescent 500w lightbulbs. I would probably want to put in color LEDs while I'm at it too. If I'm not upgrading I probably just stick to the existing lights.

Worth upgrading?

It wasn't to me, even with $500 off, because -- like you -- I already have wireless control via ScreeenLogic. And yeah, the EasyTouch/ ScreenLogic user experience is poor, but my wife and I are used to it and the pool works fine. So the upgrade doesn't provide much value to me personally.

But on the other hand, EasyTouch is EOL, and the big discount seems like a clear signal that Pentair is planning to completely drop all support for EasyTouch and Screenlogic as soon as the last units are out of warranty -- which will be on 1 October of this year. So if anything goes wrong with your current system after that date, you'll probably have to upgrade anyway. And the upgrade process will be more pleasant and leisurely if you do it now, while your EasyTouch is still working. Plus, if ScreenLogic is making it hard for your wife to enjoy the pool, maybe that's reason enough for you to upgrade now. As @Newdude is fond of saying, nothing rhymes with "happy husband".

I don't really know anything about those bulbs-- my lighting is an ancient fiber-optic thing -- but I've read some upgrade horror stories here. That bulb replacement could actually turn out to be more difficult than the EasyTouch-to-Intellicenter upgrade.

Just a word of caution. I did the upgrade and currently fighting with pentair for this rebate. They are now saying even though I bought from a retail store it had to be professionally installed for the rebate.
