Easytouch Remote turns on then off

Hi,

I have an Easytouch 8 circuit remote with the older P4HEASYTOUCH FCC Id.

I mistakenly bought a new remote off of marketplace with the P4HEASYTOUCH2A FCC ID. I now know these are not interchangeable and will not work together I guess i need to buy a new antenna to use this remote.

I ended up cutting open my old remote and found that the AA battery holder was bent/worn and i think this was the problem. After bending it back and putting fresh batteries in it seemed to work jsut fine. Put the remote back together, glued it back together and it worked for a few hours. Now wont turn back on.

Anyone had any luck repairing these remotes? Is there some common issue with them? How about swapping the frequency chip from my old remote to the new one so that it works with the existing antenna? If not, what do i need to do to change the antenna?

Just trying it now, it turned on and was working for a couple minutes, now it won't turn back on. I have no idea

Yes.

However, rather than throwing more money at an obsolete system, consider putting the money towards the IntelliCenter upgrade kit...

i agree if it was in the budget right now.

I can swing a few hundred for a fix with what i have. If its 1k plus we will have to save up and budget for it. Wife's been out of work well over a year now and we are just tight right now.
 
Steve the screenlogic wireless kit is nice... I finally got one myself a few years ago and I do like it, however I still have an indoor panel (similar to your wireless) because it will back up my configuration and schedules (screenlogic does not - but it does make it easy to reprogram)

Anyway, you can't swap the radio inside the unit - the old one is made by Linx where the new one is a Laird, and the circuit boards are totally different (you can see the internals if you plug the fcc:id into the fcc website). The newer transceiver card with the Laird chipset is part number 520946z

i think im going to go with the Laird setup - it seems easiest to setup and less headache. This remote i bought is brand new so should last us quite a while

What firmware version have you got on your Easytouch? Asking because if you have a current-ish version 2.180 or 2.190 then you'll want to make sure your Laird card has 2040 or greater (I think there might be a 2050, not sure). I've had trouble pairing remotes when the Laird card is at 2030 or earlier.
