Easytouch 8 with TWO 2-Speed Pumps?

Is there a way to run two 2-speed pumps with an Easytouch 8?

I have one 2-speed Whisperflo pump running my filter/heater/cleaner, using the Pentair 2-speed relay.

I have a single speed 1.5HP Superflo that runs my sheer descent water feature and my pool chiller.

I need less flow to run the pool chiller but I still want to have the versitility to run the sheer descent at full rate.

Any ideas?

Jeff,

I would think not... You could have two, 2-speed relays, but there is only one 2-speed relay port. There is some internal programming for how the 2-speed relay port works and it is doubtful that you would want both of your 2-speed relays doing the same exact thing at the same time.

I would configure one relay as the "official" 2-speed relay and configure the other 2-speed relay to manually turn on and off using two Aux circuits..

Actually, I would have used a VSP for the pool, and then the 2-speed for the water features. :p

Keep in mind that a lot of people get very tired of the constant noise from water features and end up not using them near as often as initially planned.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yeah, that’s where I landed too. I have space in the box for another 2 speed relay but no available special purpose relay outputs (unless the solar port an be used somehow).

Do you have a wiring diagram of what that would look like with two aux circuits? Even a crude drawing?

I thought about the VSP but I’ve seen so much about the electronics frying.

I don’t really run the water feature much as it is, for the reason you cited, but I still want the option.

Thanks for the advice!

Jeff,

I am good at "crude", so let me see what I can do... In the mean time..

As an example... use the normal Aux 6 relay to provide power to the 2-speed relay plugged into Aux 7 port on the main board . Turning Aux 6 on would turn on the pump at low speed and then turning on Aux 7 would switch the 2-speed relay to high speed. You need two relays because you need one that turns everything on/off, and you need the other to switch between low speed and high speed.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jeff,

I re-read you post.. Are all 7 of your aux relays already used???

Are you planning to replace the single speed pump or just the motor?

Just the motor.

I think I understand how to wire with two power relays vs. the 2-speed relay...except for the common wire. Where does it connect in the panel? Either one of the power relays or both?
