Easy way to put pool cover on by myself?

I recently bought a pool cover for my pool (24' diameter). Is there an easy way to put the cover on by myself? I have tried in the past and what typically happens is that it sinks into the pool. I have seen the hoists that some people have built but that's not entirely practical in my situation. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thinking out loud here:

-idea to use as a roll up pole------PVC pipe? the thicker the better so it does not bend/give in the middle. Long enough to go across the pool with some left over so it does not fall into the pool.

Find a way to attach the cover to the middle of the pole on one side. Roll the pipe slowly making sure to keep it even. Find a way to secure it at the other end so it will not fall off.

I have NO idea if this will work. It is just want popped into my head when I read your post. LOL
