Jm,
It really depends on when you do it...
If the pump is running and you manually shut it off, it may or may not restart when you recycle power.
If the system is running and the power goes away, it should start back up on its own, but it might take several minutes..
It is easy to confuse the EasyTouch by screwing with the "F" button. If you want to stop the pump, you should go into the Service mode.
When you screw with the "F" button the EasyTouch thinks you want to manually control things.. So if you manually start the pump, it will run until the egg-timer times out.. The default is 12 hours...
The system is made to run using schedules.
It does not always get confused, but it happens often enough to be a pain in the rear.
I have three pools and three EasyTouch systems.. I have never used the "F" button unless I was trying to duplicate some issue for someone.
Next time you want to power down, go into the Service mode and them shut off power. It should come back up in the Service mode. Then put the system into auto and things should work.. Another option is once you reapply power push the reset button the front panel.. Just like rebooting your PC.
It might take several minutes for it to come back up all the way... It is old an obsolete, like me, and needs a little help getting going...
Thanks,
Jim R.
