I battled algae last year, so I looked on the forums for how to set the filter to work 24 hours while I slammed the pool. I put the Pentair variable speed filter to manual and when the algae cleared back to auto. I'm not entirely sure what I did because the easy touch has only one schedule to turn the filter on at night and run for, I believe it's 6 or 8 hours, and turn off in the morning but instead of turning the filter off it then switches and lights up button number 7 and never turns off. There are no other schedules or names or features. I removed the boost pump schedule as the boost pump went bad and I'm not replacing it. I have been using a robot to clean the pool instead. I have no idea how to find this ghost program. I also had my skimmer replaced and that gentleman couldn't find anything in the easy touch system for that number 7 button to light up and continue to keep the pool pump running until I manually turn it off. Can anyone help me figure out where in the world this ghost program could be coming from and how I go about fixing it as having a schedule isn't helping me because it only turns it on and never turns it off.Thank you so much for any guidance or any place that you can point me so that I may be able to find a solution to this problem.

Do you have ScreenLogic?

Post pics of your EasyTouch with the panel open so we can see the wiring.

TiKi,

Try pushing the Reset button on the main panel.. This is like rebooting your PC, it will not erase anything..

Everything will turn off and then come back on.. It might take a few minutes..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I did this but it was still on this morning when it should have been off. I appreciate that though!

I do not have screen logic. I am guessing I need to remove the 2 bolts to get to the wiring? The schedule was fine until I set the pump to manually stay on. Once I put it back to auto the schedule end is not registering. I did redo that schedule to try to get it to "take" but no dice.

Your reply is much appreciated!

Tiki,

Tell me more and maybe we can figure this out...

What pump do you have??? Is it a VS pump? Does the pump have a Display of any kind?

What Circuit did you schedule to turn your pump on and off??

Thanks,

Jim R.

Quick backstory...I purchased the house and of course the pool came with it, lol. I was in another state and had a pool service company convert it to saltwater. The pool service company was a luxury I could no longer afford and they didn't take lightly to being canceled so I can get no help from them but they set everything up. The larger easytouch was not needed as it only ran the pump and a boost pump with nothing else. The boost pump went bad and the pool had a massive leak so I had it repaired and resurfaced. The algae issue was from before the repair and resurface. The gentleman who fixed the massive crack by the skimmer looked at the easy touch and could not find anything in it but the 1 filter pump schedule either 🤔

Tiki,

Are you pushing the "F" button to start the pump? If so, and you have the egg-timer set to "Don't Stop" that is exactly what will happen.. The pump will start and never shut off.. That is what the egg-timer does..

If you want pump to run on a schedule, you set the on time and off time and you do NOT push the "F" button.. Then, in theory, the pump will start on time and then stop on time..

Two completely different modes of operation.

Thanks for the pics.. I don't know much about the SuperFlo pumps, so can't tell for sure if the EasyTouch is in control or not..

The basic problem for me is that older SuperFlo pumps have different way to talk to the SuperFlo, compared to the newer SuperFlo pumps..

Please take the two screws out and remove the metal panel. Then show me pics of the relays and any wiring.

Also, the pump, not the motor end, should have a S/N sticker and on that sticker is the date when the pump was made.

And finally, show me the LCD when you are not in the menu mode.. I want to see if it shows AUTO or Service Mode.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you Jim. The panel is in auto mode, I can get a picture. I am not manually turning anything on, at 9 pm the pump goes on but never shuts off going from the "f" button being red to the #7 button being red and staying on. I will get the the pics you requested. Again, Thank you for your help!

Tiki,

Ok.. Your pump is new enough that it can be controlled by the com port in the EasyTouch.. This is good!!

The pump can be controlled by either the Com port (RS-485) or inputs from your relays.. It appears that your system has both, which makes no sense..

For the RS-485 com port to work, you have to have speeds set up.. Tell me what you see when you do the following:

Menu, Settings, IntelliFlo, ( if you see pump # 1 or #2, select 1) You should see the following:

Pump Type : VS
Speeds
Priming
Status

If the pump type is VS, then scroll down to speeds.. You should see something like...

Pump #1 1/8
RPM : 1300
Circuit
[ Pool ]

Push Menu once and then scroll down to Status.. You should see something like...

Pump Status
RPM - 1300
Watts - 204
Status - Normal

Please let me know what you find..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Tiki,

As a test, use the EasyTouch to change the SWCG's output and confirm that the cell changes when you change the EasyTouch..

I want to know if you com port is working..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I also changed the Intellichlor percentage on the EasyTouch and it changed the output as expected.

Tiki,

For some reason it appears to me that your "external" inputs from your Aux 2 or Aux3 relays are telling the pump to run..

If you remove the small Red wire coming from the pump cable, from Aux 2, pin 1, (First one on the left) it should shut all external signals off..

Try that.. It is just 5 VDC..

Thanks,

Jim R.

TiKi,

Turn off External control...

TO ENABLE/DISABLE EXTERNAL CONTROL ONLY MODE:

1. If the pump is running or Start/Stop LED is illuminated, press the Start/Stop button to stop the pump.
2. Press and hold the Start/Stop button for 10 seconds to enable/disable External Control Only mode. The Ext. Control Only LED will illuminate if enabled.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I turned off the external control and set a temporary schedule to see if the system will stop the pump instead of switching to Aux #7 and staying on. With the external control light not illuminated the pump does not go on at all. Logical, but this pool stuff is confusing to me, sorry.
