Easy Touch help

Tiki,

When the pump is in the External Control mode, it is being controlled by discreet 5 volt inputs from your Aux 2 and 3 relays. The RS-485 com port is not considered as an "External" input on your pump.

Turns out the External Control has to be shut off for the RS-485 to control the pump.

I have no idea why your Aux 7 light is on, but.. Aux 7 is not connected to anything right now.

external control light not illuminated the pump does not go on at all.
You have to push the start stop button one time before the pump will start.. In theory, when the display shows AUTO it means the EasyTouch is in control. It the EasyTouch is not not telling the pump to run and you push the start button, the start light should come on, but the pump will not start until the EasyTouch's schedule tells it to run.

Something must be wrong telling the Aux 7 button to light, but I was hoping we could work around that problem.

Let's say you have a schedule for Pool to be on from 9 am until 9 pm.. Then at 8 am, the system will be in AUTO and "Pool" should not be displayed on the little LCD.. At 9 am Pool should show up on the display and the pump should start.

If you set up another schedule, push the reset button and see what happens at start up time.

Another thought... Check to see what the Circuit Function is for Aux 7.. It should be Generic, and not "Pool"

Thanks,

Jim R.

Tiki,

I am not sure if that is the whole story or not, but I am glad it appears to be working now.. :goodjob:

I see several problems related or not..

1. VS pump should get constant AC power.. Your pump appears to be wired to the load side of your pump/filter relay, when it should be wired to the line side of the relay.

2. You have external control wires wired to your Aux 2 and 3 relays, when the pump has a working RS-485 control.. Does not make any sense and maybe why the pump would not shut off.

3. The control cable for the pump is routed wrong.. It appears to be between the metal breaker cover and the EasyTouch frame. You can even see a mark where the cable may have been cut.. This could have shorted some of the wiring..

4. Not sure about this one.. My guess is that you only have one pump speed for "Pool" set up.. Is that all you want or need?

5. The RS-485 wires, going from the pump cable to the Main Circuit card are also routed wrong.. They look to be pinched between the breaker cover and the EasyTouch frame..

Just like you, I am here to learn. So I'd like you to do me a small favor.. With the EasyTouch's display in AUTO, the pump's display should read read "Auto". If that is true, I'd like you to put the system into the Service mode. wait 30 seconds, and then tell me what happens to the pump's display... Then put the system back into Auto..

It has been fun working with you..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I have 0 experience with this system. As I said a pool service company set this up and I'm not surprised that it is incorrect as they installed this Easy Touch 8 when we didn't need this big system. They also "inspected" the pool and failed to find a 2 inch gaping crack in the skimmer 😄😄😄 Needless to say, we don't use them anymore. I will take a look at what you have pointed out. I am so grateful for your help!
