E06 Heater Code?

This is my first time owning a pool and we bought a house from previous owners. Pool / equipment about 7-8 years old but good condition and inspected.

My Heater isn't staying on and I'm getting a e06 notice. The heater starts up and you can hear it. Ignite and the heating button flashes. It then switches over to maintenance and shows the error..

It's weird though because then after a few times however it did stay on. Any thoughts?

If it is the SFS, how are the replacement ones on Amazon for $20? I've seen a couple of the manufacturer ones that are 120 to 140. I don't have a voltmeter so what would I do to test it once it's in?

when I replaced mine it was $20 from a local pool store. It was the Pentair Mastertemp one supposedly because the unofficial one was around $10 - I think. It worked fine and was easy to replace. Not sure why they are charging you $110. I’d go with the knock off and see how it goes.
 
Hmmm let’s see what someone else suggests. I’m not 100% sure and don’t want to steer you wrong

Is the wire on your SFS rubberized or braided?

Pentair had a batch of bad SFS around the Covid times that had rubberized wires. The improved SFS has braided insulation.

How old is your heater?

Make a warranty claim with Pentair.

You can find Stack Flue Sensors online for about $15.00 (aftermarket, try Optimum Pool Technologies off Amazon). The cheap ones on Amazon may work but their longevity is a gamble. Buying a cheap couple to have on hand is a great way to keep your heater running while you wait for warranty.

I'll go and look in circle back.

I think the heater is about 7 to 8 years old so I'm not sure if the SFS was ever replaced or not.

I also have American Home Shield (came with house) that I need to contact for a small pump leak. I could probably bundle on top.

Is there anything that needs to be checked when replacing the SFS? I don't have a volt meter. I guess just pop the new one in and if it turns on I'm good to go? I don't know if I had to check temps or what not
 
Your heater is past the warranty unless your Home buyer warranty will cover it. Probably not worth mak9ing a claim for a $20 part.

Replace the SFS and see if the heater runs.
