So in the past, I left my salt water generator cell in line 12 months a year. I’m sure this is a mistake and probably lowers the lifespan. My question is since I’m going to be replacing it can I use the old one as a dummy or can it cause scale or other problems due to pressure drops? If not, I’ll just order a straight through dummy Pipe. They’re not very expensive, but I thought if I have the old generator and it would work I would just use it, thought I would check here. Thx

Many here leave them in. As long as it is winterized properly, should not lower the lifespan. [EDIT: sorry, forgot the NOT in the sentence...]
You can use an old cell...won't cause issues. What do you mean by pressure drops?

I leave my pool going 12 months a year. And I pretty much have my pump running 24 hours a day because my pump equipment is elevated and once in a while it will lose prime. What I meant by pressure drops is as it goes through the SWG I thought maybe the difference in exit pressure could cause scale to precipitate while it is. It operating. Sounds like I’m good just to leave the working SWG in and toss the other one. Thx guys!
