Draining for high CYA - does it matter where I put the pump?

I'm planning to drain 50% of my pool due to CYA levels of 200 or so. I saw a post that suggested draining from the bottom of the pool if CYA was high, perhaps under the theory that there is more CYA down there.

I was planning to drain from the shallow end, just because it's easier for my electric cable and drain hose. I would hope my pump is keeping all the water mixed.

Does it matter where I put the pump?

Nope. The CYA is evenly distributed throughout the pool. Pump from the most convenient spot.

Yes it does.. I've found the pump works best if you put it in your swimming pool...

As Richard says... any place in the pool will work just fine..
