Drain screen stained

My drain screens and other plastic parts are stained tan/brown. Water chemistry is fine. Just seemed to stain last 6 months. I can’t brush it off, the plaster isn’t stained just the plastic parts. Ideas?

Iron staining.

Crush up Vitamin C tablets to make a paste and put it in a sock and rub it on the brown stains. If it lifts it is iron staining.

Vitamin C will remove it … temporarily. Depending on how frequently the staining appears, you may need to test your water for iron. If your iron levels are high, then utilize rain storms as a way of diluting your pool water. Try to drain the pool down a few inches (don’t go below the skimmer) and let the rain refill the pool. You’ll lose other chemicals too like CYA and CH, but those are easier to add to a pool than it is to remove iron. Considering where you live, it shouldn’t be too hard to find some rain ☔
