Dolphin Impeller Constantly Clogs With Hair

You should not have to modify a brand new robot in any way.. There is not one piece of hair or debris in that filter, it is all in the motor.. That should not be happening at all.. Have them give you another one to replace this one and I bet it will work just fine.. Like I said, mine had some hair on the impeller but it had tons of gunk and some hair in the filter, your filter is clean and not catching anything...

Here is another response from Maytronics, I know one of you asked about the springs too. I will get out there to take pictures of the bottom later today,
Not sure what cover they are talking about, anyone knows if this thing is missing parts?

I think your problem is the debris is bypassing the filter due to the flap in the picture not sealing up good enough. As you see those gaps by the double green lines there are openings there that let the debris get in.

That's a rubber flap. Mine has a much bigger gap than that. Probably gets pulled closed from the suction & just there to let water drain out. In another picture there's something yellow on the flap. Maybe that was preventing the flap from closing.

If you dont clean your robot weekly, that slime on the back flap will accumulate. You can remove it carefully pushing the rubber tabs from the inside/out. I can almost guarantee that that is your problem.

I have never “cleaned” my robot (aside from washing out the basket. I’ve had it since April. He lives in the pool which is properly chlorinated according to the FC/CYA Levels - i have never had any accumulation of slime. On occasion there’s debris on the inside of the lid (leaf pieces etc) & i wipe them with my hand.

There was another member a while back that had it missing and once replaced all was good. Your flap seems damaged that it doesn't seal evenly.
Thank you!

what do you mean by cleaning it weekly? The inside of the robot?

Exactly what I wanted to hear, because this maintenance is getting ridiculous, basket, inside of the robot and impeller, I'm not doing all that on weekly basis.

Just equally as i clean the filter i also spray wash all the inside of the robot and check impeller for debris.
I'm not able to do that, I don't have a hose by my pool and would have to carry the robot next to my house and it is way to heavy to do that all the time. When I purchased it I was instructed to open the robot and clean the basket, simple as that and owning another robot for last 4 years this was exactly what I did. Never had an issue.
