Dolphin Active 20 cord no longer floats

I've had this robot for about 5 years now and noticed that lately it has been 'eating' its own cable. After watching it operate for a bit, I realized that the blue cable doesn't really float anymore, so it lays at the bottom of the pool until the robot runs it over and it gets jammed up in the front roller.

I was just wondering if anyone had any quick fixes (drying out the cable, attaching some kind of external floats, etc.) or should I just go ahead and replace it with a new one. Thanks!

I'd take about a foot long piece of pool noodle, and either feed the cord thru it, or split it down the length and slip the cord in. I've never done it myself but that's what I'd do.
