Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

I ordered with Marina and had zero issues, Their customer service was excellent!!! also ordering from Marina allowed me to apply for the Rebate, so i paid $659.00 for my S200 no tax or shipping, and received the $50.00 rebate, so my final cost was only $609.00

Just got my Discovery today! I threw it in the pool and it completed its first clean. The instructions say to store it upside down and in the shade. I have a plastic deck box, but it sits in the sun. Naturally, it would be *inside* the deck box, but would that heat up too much in our 100 degree summers? Better to store it in the garage? Also, how do I decide between regular and pleated filters?

If you don't have the caddy then you have to store it on its side or upside down so as to not flatten the rollers or tracks. You can put it up on 2x4's to raise it.

If you plan to keep it out of the pool then keep it in the shade and out of direct sun.

If you have both filter insets then use the coarse ones to pick up large visible debris. Use the pleated filters for fines you can't see.

Thanks!

Do the coarse filter insets snap out and get replaced by the pleated ones?

Can I store it inside a deck box that sits in the sun or will that heat it up too much?

Yes, you snap the filters in and out. Be careful, too much force and you can crack them.

The deck box might get too hot if it's in direct sun. Be sure to rinse it off really good when storing it and DO NOT tightly coil the cord. Use the over-under cable cool technique and a very large radius coil to the cable. Do not wrap it around your forearm or else you'll completely twist up the cord.

If I don't have visible dirt in the pool, then I should use the fine filters? That will still pick up the occasional leaf and whatnot?

Yes. Just be careful because the fine filter can load up with leaves very quickly and the cleaner can lose suction. You really don't want to use the ultra-fines if there's lots of visible debris.

I've heard warnings on here about not leaving the robot in the pool, but since it comes with settings to schedule multiple cleans per week, it would seem that it's meant to be left in the water.

Also, what's up with the blue blinking light? I saw something in this thread that says it means its in the middle of it's 2 hour cycle, but mine seems to blink randomly here and there throughout cleaning. Should I be concerned?

Mine spends much more time in the pool than out. I don't know about the blue light. It blinks but I don't know about a sequence or not. If it's cleaning the pool then I'm happy!

I watched Mr. Roboto free himself from the drain today. I'm starting to think the time he got stuck was when the pump was running (suction from drain). Funny, he got loose from the drain and went right back over the drain and stuck again, then freed himself again.

He was determine to show that drain who's boss...

Seriously looking at the DOLPHIN Active 20, Active 30 or AQUABOT Breeze IQ.
Really like the idea of the dual-media filter baskets on the Dolphin Active models. The new Aquabot Elite looks like a nice unit, but seems like there are a number of complaints on Amazon (Aquabot says initial problems with the Elite are now fixed). Seems like you get a lot more for your money with the ACTIVE 20, and BREEZE IQ, without a lot of unnecessary technology that costs extra $$. I think I have narrowed down my choices to those 3 models. Has anyone evaluated both side-by-side? Obviously there are lots of feedback on this thread regarding the ACTIVE 20/DOHENY Discovery. Any thoughts on Active 30 or BREEZE IQ?

Is there any difference in the filtration baskets between the ACTIVE 20/S200 and ACTIVE 30/S300? The comparison chart on the Dolphin site shows different filter "descriptions", but it just might be marketing inconsistency? Does the Active 30 have the "nested" dual baskets and the Active 20/Discovery have only the single basket? Can someone clarify if you get the dual/nested baskets with the A20/Discovery model.

Any suggestions/feedback you can provide would be highly apppreciated, esp on the Dolphin filter baskets and the BREEZE IQ

There are 2 types of filter that can be installed in the basket. My Discovery came with both. A coarse mesh screen and a fine pleated filter. The S300, and probably Active30, also come with a mesh screen insert that slides inside the basket so you can use the pleated filters in the basket and the mesh I set will grab the larger debris first.

The strangest thing happened yesterday-

I'm working outside and notice Sheldon, our Dolphin Discovery, climbed up to scrub right over the skimmer inlet. Not long after I hear the pump change sounds...really a new different sound... run over to the pump and the water inside the pump basket is awash in a water tornado!! I glance at my Skimmer inlet to note the water height is good (knowing if I was too low I'd risk sucking air) and look back at the pump basket and then suddenly its okay again. Calm, quiet pump and calm water in the basket.

Darn it if Sheldon didn't suck all the water out of the skimmer and cause my pump to have to reprime itself!! LOL LOL LOL

Well.... *thats* how good he is.
