Does it help to add algaecide Kem/Tek 60 over the winter?

I'm in Wisconsin so it wouldn't be long and my pool will be a frozen ice cube. I'm presently vacuuming, sweeping and slamming to make sure it's where it's supposed to be as this week I'll be blowing the lines and putting on the cover for winter. It'll be covered for 6-7 months.
I normally open up to some green. It seems to vary but I'm wondering if it's worth it to try dosing it with Kem-Tek or would it just be money better spent on bleach when I open again next year ??

What type of cover do you have, and when exactly do you open? You may be opening your pool late. It is best to open at the end of April, and no later.

Also, at what pool temperature do you close your pool. It's recommended that you close your pool when the pool temperature is at 60deg or lower. Algae don't like growing in cold water.
