Does high TA even matter?

I've read old posts about this situation but nothing exactly answers my question. Does it matter if TA is high as long as Ph is OK? My well water source has Ph of 7.2 and TA of 250. I seem to have a leak somewhere since I lose about 3 inches of water a week even in winter so I have to add water every week. This brings Ph down and TA up. Of course the Ph drifts up because of high TA so I check about 2-3 times a week and use MA to bring it down to low 7's. TA in the pool has been staying around 100 so it's high but not ridiculous. Is this the best method for dealing with this?

Only issue with elevated TA is if you are having a scale issue. Are you?
Otherwise, no worries.

If you are using trichlor tablets for chlorinating, it is best to maintain a higher TA so your pH does not crash from the acid that is being added. That works until the pool turns green from high CYA and not enough chlorine.
