Does a mesh cover help reduce net chlorine loss? (The mesh cover is designed to prevent leaves from entering the pool, but I wonder if it offers a secondary benefit.)

I assume that the pool would have less UV exposure with a mesh cover on, but I am curious whether that is correct or not.

I have read on TFP that there will be some chlorine loss oxidizing the cover, but I don't see how this would be the case if my mesh cover doesn't touch the pool.

Thoughts are appreciated.
 
It would, but putting it on and off would be a pain. I use a solar blanket and find my FC loss is a lot less when that is on.
