Hello,

Before ordering valves, do I need a return valve? Not sure of the name of it, but after all the equipment (pump, filter, SWCG)... They're currently $80 at PoolSupplyWorld, so not exactly inexpensive.

Also, does this layout look good?

Thanks in advance!

Dr,

If you only have one line going back to the pool from the equipment pad, then no, a return valve is not "required".

It can be useful to shut off the return when working on the filter.

Assuming that is a cartridge filter, then I like having a valve between the pump and the filter so that I can take the pump lid off without the filter draining down through the open pump.

I like the way you have your suction side now.. I believe that individual input valves allow better suction adjustment than 3-way valves.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you both for your prompt replies! I'll go ahead and order 4 valves then. I've had the new equipment about a month now--so it will be good to get it installed. Been distracted with tons of other projects around the house. But it's obvious the pool equipment is in dire need of replacement, so it's time to install.
