Hello all,

I'm installing an inground vinyl 20k pool. The pump will be a Pentair vs pump. The filter pad will be 60’ from the pool. Is this ok? Will this cause any problems. All plumbing will be 2” ridged pvc.
Thank you.

60' runs are not an issue for a simple pool but as Pat alluded to, it does depend on the other features and expected maximum flow rates.

Please provide the details of the pump and system and any features you plan to use including the flow rate required for each feature.

The distance isn't a problem as long as the pipe is sized correctly.

For suction, you want to keep the water velocity below 6 ft/sec. For returns, you want to keep the water velocity below 8 ft/sec.

Size.......6 ft/sec......8 ft/sec.
1.5"...........38...............51 gpm
2"..............63...............84 gpm
2.5............90.............119 gpm
3.0".........138.............184 gpm

If the total "equivalent length" of pipe is more than 100 feet or if the pump is significantly above the surface of the water, you should upsize the pipes by one size.
