I am interested in purchasing a VS pump to replace my 2HP 2-speed Hayward Tristar pump (it’s been repaired once and he won’t work on it again - and I don’t want it to fail at a bad time). I’m good with my decision to get a VS because I can get a $400 utility rebate on a VS and nothing on a 2-speed. I also don’t need a 3HP VS as we have a simple pool with no spa or water features but I do have a SWG and may install a heater someday. So I want flexibility but don’t need high HP.

The Hayward SP3202VSPND - Tristar VS is now discontinued by Hayward (though still widely available around $900 before my rebate) but seems to be a good match for me since I have Hayward Pro Logic automation, so I can go with the ND (no display) version.

Any concern with buying a discontinued Hayward model, this particular model, or anything else on pump selection that I’m missing?

Thank you.

Good to hear Rob. If I do move forward with the purchase, that's my choice. It's $450 after shipping/tax/utility rebate. I'll know I waited too long once my utility stops offering the rebate.
