Hello all! My hayward power flow lx bit the dust a few days ago, leaving me with a really pretty color of green water since it's rained and been hot for the last 3 days. I'm shopping but am curious as to opinions.

I can't seem to find a 1 hp Hayward pump on any websites so I'm wondering:
1. Can I use a 1.5 hp? Will it cost more to run? Is it too powerful?
2. I've always used Hayward, but is there really a difference in quality between brands? I can get a Hayward in 3 days for $350 or a Doheny tomorrow with all the same features for $169. Worth the $200 difference or not?
3. If I do go with the Doheny, will the fittings all fit?

Thanks for your help!

Think about the fact that you can buy two Doheny pumps and still be ahead of one Hayward pump.

Ports are 1.5." Motor is likely the same brand. Pump manufacturers purchase motors, they don't make them. 1.5hp will cost more to run than a 1hp.
