Definitely Need Help

Another just general question, but I’ve got heavy rainfall coming. I am guessing the answer to how to deal with this will be test test test and see what’s needed to be added?

It will only affect anything by the corresponding % of how many inches fall compared to your average depth in inches. A 6 inch whopper will affect you by about 10%, you'd barely know. Anything less and you won't know at all. Just make sure you mix well if the storm is bad. The 0 FC rain doesn't take long to fester if the pump wasn't scheduled to come on for 6 or 12.more hours.

Starting with 1 or 2 insurance FC over target level never hurts. I did it with no storms.

as far as these two, I haven’t backwashed or cleaned the filter. I had tried to look at the how-to process but do you know how often this needs to be done?

Additionally the backwash seems to really dirty up the soil in my yard from where my neighbor had dumped it, do most people simply dump it in grass in their backyard?
I backwash mine to my yard annually. I have an old vaccum hose that I attached to a 2 inch PVC socket to NPT adapter. That way I can "Spread the Love" when I backwash the DE to the yard. I'm not sure what you mean by the yard looking "dirty" I never notice in my yard after a couple of days. I'm sure the chlorine in the pool water isn't great for the grass but, it seems to not have caused any major issues.
