Is there any way I can deep clean this filter without adding unions to all three pipes? It already was installed without unions when we bought the house and I want to deep clean.

Nope. You have to take the top off. Adding unions is one of the easier PVC mods/repairs.
Dang! That's what I thought. It looks easy enough to add unions but I have never done it. So I am assuming I can't add the unions where the filter connects with the pipes? It doesn't look like it can come out.

You have some room on those runs for the unions. Take look at this video for some ideas.
Go ahead and buy the unions so you can see how much space you need. You will have to make sure to take a little off the pipes to accommodate the unions.

Not as nasty as I thought it would be, but still it was very dirty. How long people usually do the cleaning? I did it for a good 20 minutes or so and there was still stuff coming out lol.
Ahhhhhhh look at those cute unions! They look so happy there LOL! Well done! Do you have a strap wrench? They are AWESOME for opening/closing them.

I do have one but I could open them without it since they are new. But I'll probably need it next time I open them.
