DE for existing sand filter

Hey all,
I have been reading on hear about DE and how to add to my
system. I want that sparkling water that is talked about. My
water is clear but not sparkling. My question, is there anything
special I need to look for, certain brand, special ingredients, or
anthing I could mess up?

You don't want food grade, nor garden DE.

Thank you for responding, I have read that post, just wanted to
make sure I can not get the wrong stuff (food grade garden grade)
all new to me just trying to keep things straight. Hate to say it
but if I get it from a pool store, SHOULD be good to go?

Out of curiosity, is food-grade DE bad because it costs more, or will it actually degrade filter performance?

Just wondering because I have some food-grade DE we got to curb an ant infestation a ways back, but I was thinking I might dump the leftovers into the filter.

No, Pool DE is heat treated, and if I remember correctly, food grade gets through the filter. Either way, stick strictly woth Pool DE at all times. No gardening type or food grade.

Most box stores will have the right stuff, in the pool area.
