DE Filter Backwash From Return

Hi all! I finally got my AGP installed yesterday (after a year of waiting) and I have a question about my DE filter. I have a simple AGP setup with flex 1.5 in tubing and no check valves or shutoffs. Im wondering when I need to clean the pump basket I can put a plug into the skimmer but water will flow through the return jet in reverse through the DE filter. Is this bad and will it basically be backwashing the filter? Would I need to recharge it after doing this? Thanks in advance.

I have the Hayward EC50 with the powerflo vs 300 pump

The EC50 has an internal check valve to prevent DE from flowing backwards into the pump:
