The non-metallic bearing on my multiport valve crumbled today. After I turned the valve (with the pump off) from backwash to filter, the valve continued to discharge water through the backwash port.
I got a screwdriver and pushed the shattered white bearing back in place somewhat, and the water stopped flowing from the backwash port.
It is a very old valve - SP0714T1 on a Hayward sand filter S180T. I’m wondering if I should try to repair this by replacing the beating, or getting a completely new valve. Because a new key assembly is only is only $20-$30 more than a new valve, I’d buy the valve instead of only
the key assembly. I saw the valve on Amazon for $135.
