Daily backwash?

Hi,
We are struggling to turn our water from green to clear.
Pool looks much better now then when we started but still not transparent.
We've been backwashing sandfilter almost daily. We are wondering if it's fine. We backwashed yesterday and we could see that it works much better. The basket was full of green algae. Filter is running 24/7. Today it is not so intense and pressure rised to 1.5. Basket looks empty though.Should we backwash again? Is there such a thing like overdoing it?
Should we vacuum daily?
Thank you!

Hi - You should backwash when your filter pressure increases 20-25% from the clean pressure. I do not have a sand filter, but I have heard several people on here say that the filter performs better when it is a little dirty vs completely clean.

With that said, a couple of comments on your green pool:
- What are your chlorine and chemical levels? The chlorine is what will kill the algae. The filter just filters out dead algae, while the chlorine does a lot of the work.
- Is there a chance you have metal in your pool? That can come from equipment or the addition of chemicals like algecide.

Hi JJ,

Thank you for your reply. We moved in our house a couple of months ago and water was transparent back than with a green spot on bottom. We had a couple of warm weeks in April and since then is became greener. We are renovating insiside if the house so did not pay to much attention to the pool. Filter was running aboyt 5 hours per day.

There is no metal in the pool. Not that we know of. We have difficulties with raising PH levels as now it is about 6.8. We keep adding PH plus solution but it won't go up. Chlorine level is fine after we shock the water but goes down in about 24 hours. We plan to buy Clear Water solution that sells here and try that one.
