How long should it take for CYA to be detected in a test sample?

If dissolved using the sock method, at least 24-48 hours. An increase of at least 10 ppm (preferably 20 ppm) is needed to be detected.

You should start to see it a once all of the stabilizer has dissolved, and it will probably continue to climb for a day or so after that. Keep in mind that it's not a very precise test, unless you're trying to raise it by at least 10-20ppm it may be difficult to see the change.
