It seems that the stuff doesn't react and get cloudy very well below about 70F and will give a falsely low reading. If your water's cold, just set a cupful of pool water in a sunny windowsill a while to warm up and use that to test CYA. Don't test the rest with the sample that's been sitting, just CYA. Do the others straight from the pool.
