CYA loss

I'm still getting my water tested at a local pool store and using test strips. (I'm going to try and get better tests soon.) But, I can't keep chlorine in my pool because I can't keep the CYA levels up. They keep dropping about 8 to 10 points a week. I have no water loss. And I have 3 large tabs in which, allegedly should increase CYA. I had it to 39 ppm 5 days ago, and now its below 30 (according to test strips going to get a better reading today). Everyone keeps telling me I can't lose CYA without water loss, but I am.

Test Strips and pool store tests simply do not provide the accuracy and consistency you need. Because of this we do not make chemical recommendations based on them.

Welcome to TFP! Ditch the guess strips and quit going to the pool store. Buy a good test kit -> Test Kits Compared and do your own testing. Pool stores results are skewed and they want to you magical potions that do more damage.

I'm waiting on some TF-Pro with SmartStir that are backordered till the 27th. I'll add some CYA to try to fix the cya levels/chlorine using test strips to try and get it semi ok until that comes in but I'll check back on these forums for some assistance once I get accurate readings. Thanks I appreciate it.

They will ship the test kit without the SmartStir now. Then ship you the stir device later.
