CYA and low pH

I added 4# of Clorox stabilizer to a skimmer with a sock in it. My pump runs 24/7. I checked it after 28 hours and it bumped my cya up accordingly, but my pH dropped from 7.86 to 7.52. I thought I had read cya doesn’t affect pH much. My plan is to aerate until it rises back up, but I’m curious if this sounds normal?

Guy,

It has a very small effect on the overall pH of a pool.. Your pH of 7.52 is perfect, why would you want to change it???

There is just no reason to adjust your pH if it is between 7.2 and 7.9 .

Thanks,

Jim R.

Sounds absolutely normal. CYA is an acid (that's the "A" in CYA) and does have a moderate impact on pH. Water will aerate on its own, no need to enforce it.
