The advice I’ve gone by for the 4 years I’ve owned a pool is that CH doesn’t matter for vinyl pools.
So is CSI at all important??
My tap water has a CH of 75, and that’s where the pool stays all summer. All other criteria are within recommended targets. So my CSI is often -1 or lower. Some folks call that “aggressive” but I don’t understand if there are any implications for the pool equipment or swimmer’s skin or hair.
My experience is that my pool is delightful - sparkly, smells nice, no eye burn. On occasion, my skin gets dry when I get out - usually only when the pH is at 7.2-7.3.
Current stats:
Temp 80F
pH 7.6
FC 7
CC 0
TA 70
CH 75
CYA 60
Salt 2800
Bor 5.3
It’s been a cold wet spring. I’ll bring CYA up to 70 later this week. When salt goes down to 2600, I’ll add another bag. Other than that, all I ever add is Borax when pH gets to 7.2.
Should I bother bringing CH up to bring CSI up?
