Covers - can you have gaps?

We are buying a cover soon. 12m x 4m pool with large steps shallow end, and small single step at deep end.

i will cover the main steps, as it’s a large area, but I am thinking of not covering the small deep end step, as it would make the cover simpler. It would still be 98% covered.

Is it a problem to leave this section open?

we also will have a small separate spa area which won’t be covered.

Many do not cover the steps, but you can buy a larger blanket and cut it to fit perfectly. I hate solar blankets so I’m a bad one to ask lol

What are you trying to accomplish with the cover? Keep debris out of the water? Prevent evaporation and heat loss? Safety?

98% coverage should accomplish that. The loss is proportional to the exposed surface area.

They are ugly dirty nasty looking things that we then have to decide the best way to hide them.

I have pools to look at the water, not some god awful looking piece of plastic. Lol

Dont forget smelly. Rain/sprinkler water gets stagnant and ICKY within minutes of the sun coming out.
