It is so hard to get cover to pump basket on and off . Have tried lube and still is very hard to get off then back on!

Some lids can be tough. Mine is as well. My lid has a couple "ears" or tabs that I can gently (carefully) tap with a rubber mallet when it gets really stubborn. I find that if I open the filter air relief valve is helps to release some pressure against the lid to make removing a little easier.
