Correct settings for spa/pool valves

l will have him connect the 3rd return.
Side,

I am not sure what the pipe with the 'T' is after the SWCG, but that is not where a return should be.

The actuator that is after the SWCG is what sends water to either the Spa or to the Pool returns.

To be honest, I have no confidence that your pool guy knows what he is doing.. Maybe he does, and we just have a communication issue, but I can't make heads or tails of what he is doing,

Let's see if @1poolman1 has anything to say...

If your pool is empty, show us any pipes or eyeballs you see in the side wall of the pool.

Thanks,

Jim R

Plumbing picture shows 2" plumbing being used for return plumbing (1.5" for spa overflow?). Pool picture doesn't show the returns. Its possible that the "eyeball" has only a 3/4" opening, but it would be extremely strange to not have at least 1.5" pipe behind those. For a pool that size, 2 returns is absolutely not enough. If that is all there is, I would remove the return "eyeball" fittings if they are there to get as much water to return to the pool as possible. If the cleaner port on this pool could be used as a return, that would help.

After a lot of looking, finally figured how heated water could be diverted to the main drain. Have never seen that to be really effective, though I've only seen two that were plumbed with the kit that used to be (still is?) available. The customers assured me it worked, but who wouldn't after spending all the money it took to get one installed. I've only heated my normal-plumbed pool a few times but was very happy with the speed it took.

I, too, would question the competence of whoever is doing the work. Looks like someone got paid by the amount of valves/fittings they could sell. A simple pool/spa with 6 diverter valves is crazy. I hate it, but knew going in that this business has the same reputation as used-car salesmen. I've tried hard to get that perception to change and still hate coming in after the "quick-buck" guy, but did it two weeks ago. Same guy that ruined a heater in six months.
