Ordering some shellstone for my coping and pavers. The shellstone designer chose a 36" length with a 20" width for the coping and 1.5" depth. Is this normal? 3/4 around the pool will be coping only with synthetic turf abutting it.

Depends on the width of your bond beam it is going on and how you are going to create an expansion joint between the coping and the ground.

Post pics of your pool the coping is going on.

How wide is the bond beam on your spa and pool??

With 20" wide coping how will you handle the overhang on the raised bond beam spa?

You need to figure out how you will do the expansion joint round the pool and the coping overhand on the spa.

You don't want the coping overhang on the inside of the spa that people will be sitting up against.

My opinion is coping stones on the spa should be the width of the bond beam and not have any overhang.
